Attendance Recovery Guidelines (Highlights)

1. Make-up work must be in Edgenuity or Canvas for non-Edgenuity courses.

2. Attendance recovery can be in-person or virtual (Student Choice).

3. Recovery arrangements must be made with individual teachers for each course in advance. Please note that each department has a recovery plan and this must be followed depending upon the course and department. Students must make attendance recovery arrangements with individual teachers in advance, whether recovery is completed in person or virtually.

4. 45 mins =1 Class Period

5. A grade of FF will be entered in PowerSchool to denote students who fail due to attendance.

6. Students can only make up recovery time and submit an appeal in the current term.

5. An Appeal Process will be available at the end of the term.

 Exam Exemption

6. High school students who meet certain criteria will have the option option of being exempt from any final exam in courses that do not have an EOC or state-required assessment. IF students have an “A” and no more than 3 absences in a course OR an “A” or “B” and no more than 1 absence in a given course, they have the option to be exempted from the final exam. 

7. The final exam exemption is only for courses with a non-EOC/state required assessment.  Students are required to take the Math 1, Math 3, Eng II, and Bio EOCs as well as specific CTE assessments.

8. The STAMP assessment is a district-required final exam for language courses.  Students who meet the eligibility criteria as shared in the presentation may be exempt from the STAMP assessments.  Students who are pursuing a Language Endorsement must take the final exam to qualify for the Endorsement.

Rule 1 ATTENDANCE (Citizenship/Responsibility): A student must attend every class every day unless there is a lawful reason for the absence. Students who are tardy, cut school or class or have excessive unexcused absences (more than 10) are in violation of this rule. In addition to any administrative response, students with excessive absences may be required to comply with the district’s recovery procedures. Repeated violations of this rule may also result in Tier II consequences, with the condition that any out-of-school suspension imposed for conduct related solely to violation of this rule is limited to two days per violation. (Students who engage in insubordinate behavior towards an authorized staff member attempting to enforce this rule may also be in violation of Rule 7 and may be punished accordingly, without the two-day limitation on out-of-school suspensions.)

Students are expected to be seated in their classrooms by 7:10 am. Students arriving after 7:15 am are required to sign-in with the Attendance Secretary, with the exception of students arriving on late buses. Arrival time of late buses will be indicated on student excused tardy pass. Carpool entrances will close promptly at 7:10. A parent or guardian must sign in students who are late to school. Early dismissals must be complete by 1:30 and only guardians/family members listed in Power School will be allowed to pick up a student. You must have a photo ID to get your student.

Any student entering after the tardy bell without a pass will be considered tardy. Students with unexcused tardies face escalating consequences including lunch detention, ISS and Saturday detention.

These continue to be a disruption of the school environment. Rules are simple:

PTDs, specifically cell phones and smart watches, must remain off and put away.  Personal laptops are not permitted for instructional purposes and must remain off and put away during the school day.  PTDs are not permitted during transitions or in the bathrooms.  Exception: High School students may utilize PTDs during the lunch period in the cafeteria only.  

“Put Away” means stored in a non-visible place such as a backpack or locker.  It does NOT mean in your back pocket.  Your device should never be on your person.

Staff and administrators will be guided by “If We See It, We Take It.” After the second infraction, parents will need to pick up the device. Discipline consequences will also increase.

As we continue to transition back to a regular school year, we remind students that unauthorized copying, either from the internet or another student, as well as failing to cite sources or communicating assessment information can be considered cheating. Many teachers will use automatic scanning programs to detect this. Students will need to redo all work identified as such, and face discipline consequences as well.

Students are not allowed to be dropped off on campus before 6:45 am unless there is a pre-approved rehearsal, tutoring, or meeting (students MUST have a pass). All students must board a bus or have a carpool pick-up by no later than 2:30 pm unless there is a pre-approved rehearsal, tutoring, or meeting (students MUST have a pass). Failure to follow the above will result in the student being exited back to their designated home school. This policy is in place for the safety and well-being of the student(s). 

Any student that is in a show or attending a show on campus after normal school hours must be picked-up immediately at the conclusion of the show (we are suggesting families arrive 15 minutes early). Students not picked-up within 15 minutes of the end time of the show will be prohibited from performing/attending future school shows for the remainder of the school year.

Security scanners have been issued to all 精东传媒 middle and high schools and all students will go through a security screening upon their arrival. These screenings act as a deterrent. We thank you in advance for your patience as we implement these processes, which will take a little bit of time at the beginning of the year, but will go smoother as students learn how to expedite their passage.
