• Dilworth Elementary School and Dilworth PTA Support the Following Activities:

     

    • Destination Imagination (DI) is an educational nonprofit dedicated to inspiring the next generation of innovators, leaders, and creative problem solvers. DI engages participants in S.T.E.A.M. project-based challenges that are designed to build confidence and develop extraordinary creativity, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.     • Math Olympiad: Sponsored by our TD teacher, Ms. Fergusson. For details about the program, please email Nina Fergusson ninac.fergusson@cms.k12.nc.us. Math Olympiad is for fourth and fifth grades only.
    • WDES News Team: Morning announcements are delivered via our closed-circuit video system to every classroom by a team of 5th grade anchors at the Latta Campus and a team of 2nd grade anchors at our Sedgefield Campus. Our school librarians mentor and coordinate these broadcasts.
    • Robotics: Tryouts are limited to rising 4th and 5th graders. The Robotics team meets regularly during their lunch period and after school throughout the fall leading up to their tournament in the spring. For details, please email Nina Fergusson, ninac.fergusson@cms.k12.nc.us.
    • Yearbook Reporters: Fifth Grade Yearbook Reporters apply via application at the beginning of the school year. Selections are made by the PTA Yearbook Chairs in conjunction with teacher recommendation/approval.
    • Honors Chorus: This is open to rising 4th and 5th grade students. Tryouts are held in music specials during the first part of the school year with our music teacher, Zack English.
    • Dragon Drumline- 5th grade students are chosen to play the drums to lead in the quarterly Dragon House meetings.

    Afterschool Activities for 

    Dilworth Elementary Students

     

     

    From childcare to sports, students at Dilworth Elementary have the opportunity to participate in several school AND non school sponsored clubs and activities.  

     

    The following activities are offered at Dilworth Elementary

    • After School Enrichment Program (ASEP)-This is the only after-school program run by the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. You can find out more information by visiting the website.

    • - Tom Sykes offers a variety of programs. These activities are housed inside Dilworth Elementary-Latta Campus but are run by Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation. 

    • Tennis Clinics- offers sessions for all levels of play. This is an outside vendor who utilizes our tennis facilities.

    • - Is an introduction to the game of lacrosse.  This is an outside vendor who utilizes our fields.

    • - This is an outside vendor who gathers students at the Latta Campus and walks students to their studio.

    • - This is an outside vendor who works with all skill range of soccer players. This vendor will utilize our fields.
    • - Will be offered on Mondays and Tuesdays. This outside vendor will utilize space inside the building.

    **It is extremely important that parents communicate their students’ means of afternoon transportation with their students’ teacher.
