Fermandi Dyson

Ms. Fermandi “Mandi” Dyson is a dedicated and passionate educational leader committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. She currently serves as the Principal of Metro School, a public separate school within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (精东传媒) district that specializes in meeting the unique needs of students with disabilities.

Ms. Dyson brings over 20 years of experience in education, with a strong background in special education and educational leadership. She began her career in 精东传媒 in 2001 with the After School Enrichment Program before transitioning to the classroom as an Exceptional Children’s (EC) teacher in 2005. Her experience spans across elementary and high school settings, where she has served as a Biology inclusion teacher, EC facilitator, and Assistant Principal at Cuthbertson High School in Union County Public Schools. In 2017, she became the principal of Metro School, where she continues to lead with a focus on student-centered learning, advocacy, and community engagement.

Ms. Dyson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Special Education licensure from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, as well as graduate degrees in Educational Leadership from Wingate University. She is also pursuing her National Principal Mentor Certification through the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), further demonstrating her commitment to developing strong leadership within education.

Throughout her career, Ms. Dyson has remained a tireless advocate for inclusive education, differentiated instruction, and professional growth for educators. She believes in the power of collaboration between families, staff, and community partners to create a thriving and supportive school environment.

Outside of school, Ms. Dyson enjoys traveling, self-care retreats, and spending time with her family. She is deeply committed to ensuring that Metro School remains a place where all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
