How do I report my child's absence?
You can use our attendance online form located in our ¾«¶«´«Ã½ School Website or send a note with your child when they return to school. If your child has been absent for more than 3 days, please let us know! You may email hfesattendance@cms.k12.nc.us to report an absence or ask any questions.
I have moved, what do I need to bring to change my address?
For address changes, please bring in two proofs of address. For more detailed information, visit our school website under Resources>Registration or email hfesregistrar@cms.k12.nc.us
Why do I never receive any recorded phone call messages or notifications from the school?
Your phone number may be incorrect in our system. You can call us to check what we have in our system or you can send a note to the office with corrected information. You may have also accidentally opted out, to opt back in, call 855-502-7867, Press 2 to opt back in.
What do I need to do to change my child transportation for one day?
All transportation changes must be in writing with advanced notice. You can email hfesattendance@cms.k12.nc.us before 12:00 noon and someone from the office will notify the teacher of this change and email you back confirming the change. This is an integral part of our safety measures as we ensure the safety of all students!
I have an emergency and I need to pick up my child, what do I do?
Please park your car in a designated parking spot (not in fire lane) and come to the front door with a valid ID. Please do not call the school so your children can be in the office, we need to verify who you are first. All early dismissals must be before 2:30pm. Between 2:30 and 3:15, teachers are packing up and getting all the students ready for dismissal and we will not allow any changes in transportation or allow students to leave early at that time.
I need to speak to my child's teacher; can I sign in and walk down to the class?
No. During morning arrivals teachers are assisting their students' unpack and get breakfast. Parents are not allowed in the hallways or classrooms. The front office staff can assist you if you have an immediate need or you can schedule a meeting by sending a note or emailing the teacher. You can find teachers' emails on the Faculty and Staff tab on our ¾«¶«´«Ã½ school website.
Can I have lunch with my student?
Yes, you can have lunch with your student but you must sign up in advance due to limited seating in the cafeteria. You can sign up in advance at . You will need to sign into Lobby Guard in the office with your ID. Only 3 people including the student will be allowed to come have lunch in the cafeteria at the parent table due to the limited space. No outside food is allowed in the cafeteria. Your student with your permission can bring one friend to eat with them inside the cafeteria at the parent table.
Why do I have to sign in every time I go to the school if I am there frequently?
Everyone who is a visitor must sign in every time they enter our school. In the event of an emergency, we can check who is in our building and whom they are visiting. Also, every visitor has a background check done each time they sign into Lobby Guard This is a safety measure that is required by our district.
I need to know where my child's bus is, could you tell me where it is?
We cannot track your child's bus. You now can download the app Here Comes the Bus or visit the website at Herecomesthebus.com to track the bus in real time. You will need the district code 73877 and student ID number. You can call transportation at 980-343-3605 for more questions. We try to send parent square messages for extremely late buses. Please make sure to download the Parentsquare app on your phone! It is the easiest way to communicate with us!
